Announcements for Participants

  • MSTA Conference – October 28-30, 2018, Biloxi, MS
    • The deadline to complete this registration is October 26, 2018. Below are the steps for registering for the 2018 MSTA Conference:
      • Go to the MSTA Website and register for the conference by October 3rd.
        • When registering, be sure to select the full program ($85) and complete the payment.
      • Once you have registered and completed the payment, send your confirmation email/receipt to cmsepd@go.olemiss.edu. As soon as we have received your confirmation email, we will process your reimbursement.
    • We were made aware that MSTA has had some issues with their registration process. If you have already registered, please check in with them to confirm that your registration is complete.

The Science Teacher Leaders Academy, funded by the NASA-Mississippi Space Grant Consortium, is a one-year professional development program for 3rd-8th grade science teachers with the goal of establishing leaders in schools across Mississippi who are knowledgeable about the 2018 Mississippi College- and Career-Readiness Standards for Science and who understand, can implement, and are willing to share research-based practices for teaching science.

What is STLA?

  • Due to funding constraints, there are a limited number of participant slots available.
  • All applicants will be notified via email by May 4, 2018.
  • Once applicants have been accepted:
    • Submit a $50 seat deposit to reserve your spot. Purchase Orders, Personal Checks, or Money Orders must be received by May 10, 2018. After this date, waitlisted applicants will be notified of available spots. Purchase Orders can be emailed to Dr. Julie James or faxed to the number below. Personal Checks or Money Orders should be mailed to the CMSE.
    • Submit a letter of support on school letterhead from your administrator
      • Sample letter
      • Email the letter to jjames1@olemiss.edu, fax to 662.915.1762, or mail to CMSE mailing address
