Engineering Camp I (High School): June 8, 2014 – June 13, 2014
Engineering Camp II (Middle School): June 15, 2014 – June 20, 2014
The Center for Mathematics and Science Education (CMSE) and the Department of Manufacturing Engineering at The University of Mississippi announces its third annual Engineering Camp summer program for students who will be in the 6th – 12th grades during the 2014 – 2015 school year. The Engineering Camp program is a five-day overnight camp designed for middle and high school students who show a great interest in mathematics and science and have a desire to further their knowledge in those areas.
The goals of the program are to offer an environment in which students can experience engineering first hand and to expose campers to challenging experiences in STEM.
The 2014 Engineering Camp season will consist of four one-week sessions over a two-week period. There will be a camp for rising 6th – 8th grade students, and a camp for rising 9th – 12th grade students. In an effort to make this camp affordable for all students, the only fee will be a non-refundable seat deposit of $175. However, this fee is reduced to $75 for those students who are eligible to receive free or reduced school lunch.
Current 5th – 11th grade students may apply to come to engineering camp. Students must complete the online application, and upload a one-page essay as to why they desire to attend camp. In addition, a letter of recommendation from a teacher must accompany each application.
The application process will be open from until April 18, 2014. Campers will be notified of their acceptance towards the end of April.
