The Center for Mathematics and Science Education (CMSE) located at the University of Mississippi seeks to improve the quality of mathematics and science education in Mississippi by promoting interest in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields. To achieve this mission, CMSE works closely with students, current teachers and administrators, and those involved in preparing teachers for the future. Additionally, the CMSE offers graduate fellowships to students pursuing a masters or doctorate degree in mathematics education, science education, or elementary education (with an emphasis in math or science). These are competitive fellowships in which we seek to recruit professionals with exemplary skills as a mathematics or science teacher and a passion for teaching and learning.
If you are interested in pursuing or continuing your graduate studies full time, please apply for a fellowship by completing the form below. The fellowship offers full-time graduate tuition; a competitive stipend; a travel budget to attend state, regional and/or national conferences; and a professional library. The expectations of the fellowship include being enrolled full-time (at least 9 hours) in a masters or doctorate program in mathematics education, science education, or elementary education (with an emphasis in math or science). In addition, fellows work with the CMSE to provide outreach, facilitate professional development, instruct undergraduates, and engage in research aimed at improving the quality of mathematics/science teaching and learning in the state of Mississippi. Fellowship positions are determined by available funds each academic year; therefore, determination of fellowship opportunities available will depend on available funding.
If you are interested in applying for a CMSE graduate fellowship, please submit your application. If you have further questions, please contact our Associate Director, Dr. Alice Steimle, by emailing: firstname.lastname@example.org.
